Antdot Releases Nina Simone ‘Work Song’ Remix
The Brazilian producer brings the original recording into an organic house setting.
Antdot has released “Work Song (Antdot Remix),” the latest installment in Verve Records’ Year of Nina campaign honoring Nina Simone. The track brings Simone’s “Work Song” into Antdot’s house framework, pairing the original’s emotional weight with a dancefloor-focused arrangement. The release is part of Verve’s program of new interpretations connected to Simone’s catalog, with producers from electronic music reworking recordings throughout the year.

Antdot said his approach began with preserving the meaning and feeling of Simone’s recording rather than trying to replace it. “My intention was never to reinvent the song, but to bring its spirit into a dancefloor context with a lot of respect,” he said. He described “Work Song” as a recording shaped by history, pain, and soul, and said he wanted the new groove to carry that emotion into a club environment. Antdot added that being invited to remix one of Simone’s songs was an honor.
Antdot is the stage name of Bruno Gustavo, who was born in Joinville, Santa Catarina. His productions draw on organic grooves and a contemporary approach to house music, with Brazilian rhythms including samba and baião also part of his palette. Antdot is also a co-founder of Dawn Patrol Records, and his catalog includes Beatport No. 1s in Afro House and Organic House, including “Povoada,” “Corpo e Canção (Club Mix),” and “Todo Homem.” In 2023, he was the second best-selling Afro House DJ. His international performance history includes Tomorrowland Belgium and Brasil, Hï Ibiza, and Cercle.
In March 2026, Antdot and fellow Brazilian producer ANNA released their first collaboration, “Astralis,” through Dawn Patrol Records, featuring handpan artist Ravid. The March 6 release coincided with an ANNA and Antdot B2B set at KOKO Electronic in London. In 2025, Tomorrowland and One World Radio included Antdot in their “20 of 2025” selection.
