On last night’s Daily Show (October 19), Joni Mitchell’s dear friend and frequent collaborator Brandi Carlile said that Mitchell will play at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington next June.
Carlile will play another Echoes Through The Canyon show herself on June 9, 2023, following the same event she organized this year. The following night in 2023, Joni Mitchell will perform her own Echoes Through The Canyon set. Joni Mitchell and the Joni Jam–a backup band with a lineup that is TBA—will perform.
Tickets for the two shows go on-sale to the public next Friday, October 28 at 10:00am PT. Carlile’s official fan club, The Bramily, will once again have special pre-sale access to tickets for members only.
The iconic singer-songwriter, who was recognized last year during the 44th Kennedy Center Honors, was honored at MusiCares’ 2022 Person of the Year tribute concert. The event took place at MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 1.
In addition to Beck and St. Vincent, other names on the line-up included Jon Batiste, Mickey Guyton, Leon Bridges, Sara Bareilles, Brandi Carlile, Lauren Daigle, Chaka Khan, Angélique Kidjo, Cyndi Lauper, Pentatonix, Billy Porter, Stephen Stills, Black Pumas, and Allison Russell. There will also be a remote performance from Graham Nash.
“Joni Mitchell redefined female musicianship with her songwriting, complexity, and voice, which has had a profound influence on musicians that have followed her” said Steve Blatter, senior VP and general manager of music programming at SiriusXM. “Not only is this channel an ode to Mitchell’s integral impact on music and her timeless songs, but also a carefully curated collaboration we are honored to be a part of and have our listeners experience.”
