Colombian American GRAMMY-winning artist Kali Uchis has earned three Univision Premios Juventud nominations in the categories of La Nueva Generación, Girl Power, and El Más Trendy, in addition to two MTV MIAW Awards for Video of the Year and Hit of the Year for “telepatía,” marking her first time nominated in both award shows. Additionally, Uchis will host and perform at this year’s MTV MIAW Awards on July 13 in Mexico City.
On June 4, Uchis shared her latest offering, the sin miedo // acoustic EP, featuring pared back versions of three tracks from her latest Spanish language album, Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞. The new EP features the previously released acoustic version of “telepatía” in addition to acoustic cuts of “fue mejor” and “vaya con dios.”
In other news, Uchis will be headlining Calibash alongside J Balvin, Ozuna, Daddy Yankee, Becky G, Sech and many more. The three-day festival, presented by SBS Entertainment and considered the most renowned urban Latin festival in the U.S, will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles January 14-16, 2022.
“telepatía” has accumulated more than 635 million streams across all platforms to date and is No.1 on Billboard’s Latin Digital Song Sales Chart. Additionally, the track is the longest running Spanish-language song by a solo act on the Billboard Hot 100 this decade and earned Uchis her first No.1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart, making her the first female in nearly a decade to top the chart without a featured act. The song also remains on several Spotify Top 200 charts and is No.2 at Latin Pop Airplay radio.
Uchis – who won her first Grammy for Best Dance Recording with Kaytranada for “10%” at the 2021 Grammy Awards earlier this year – was nominated for her first Latin American Music Award last month for Favorite Pop Album and was the only female nominated in the category. Additionally, she won “Canción Alternativa Rock/Indie” and “Artista Revelación” at Premios Nuestra Tierra, a Colombian music awards show.
