Knopfler Tracks Back To North America
Mark Knopfler has announced the North American leg of his ‘Tracker’ tour, to commence in September. The album of that name, which is released internationally on Virgin EMI on March 16, follows on Verve in the US a day later.
Knopfler and his band will head for Canada with an opening date of September 10 in Vancouver after the completion of the extensive European leg of the tour. This begins on May 15 in Dublin and concludes in Barcelona on July 31. These North American shows will be Mark’s first concerts as a solo headliner there since the ‘Get Lucky’ tour of 2010. Since then, he toured there as the special guest of Bob Dylan in the autumn of 2012.
The North American itinerary includes shows at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on September 19, the Chicago Theatre on October 2, the Orpheum in Boston on October 9 and the Beacon Theatre in New York on the 20th. The closing night is an October 31 show in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Full venues, dates and booking details are available at the tour page of Knopfler’s website.
On the European schedule, which already included an 02 Arena show in London on May 22, Knopfler has just added two more London dates at one of his most-visited locations, the Royal Albert Hall, on May 25 and 26. These are almost exactly two years on from the six sellout nights the band played at the famous venue as part of the 70-date European tour for the ‘Privateering’ album in 2013.
