Country mainstay Luke Bryan is back in the familiar territory of Billboard’s Country Airplay top ten. The Capitol Nashville star climbs 11-10 on the new chart for the week of 27 July with ‘Knockin’ Boots.’

It’s Bryan’s 28th top ten hit on that survey, and Billboard Country Update reports that it also makes him the 15th artist to reach that total. That list is headed by “King George” himself, George Strait, who has no fewer than 61 top ten airplay hits to his name. The track also holds at No. 6 on Hot Country Songs.

‘Knockin’ Boots’ was written by Gordon Francis Sampson, Hillary Lee Lindsey and Jon Nite. It has made the customary slow-but-sure progress to the top ten, being released in late March and making the grade in its 17th chart week. Its popularity has been increased in recent weeks by the late June release of this video, featuring Bryan performing in a bar filled with dancers.

The single is Bryan’s first new music since his sixth studio album What Makes You Country, which came out in December 2017. That set offered up no fewer than four from that tally of 28 top tenners. Three of them — ‘Light it Up,’ ‘Most People Are Good’ and ‘Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset’ — were airplay No. 1s. The fourth, the title track, was released in October 2018 and came to rest at No. 2.

Bryan performed at the CMT Awards in Nashville in early June and his Sunset Repeat tour continues throughout the summer and into late October. The next date is tomorrow (25) in Birmingham, AL. He’ll take a break from that itinerary for his annual Farm Tour, the 11th incarnation of which takes place this year from 26 September to 5 October.

The Farm Tour bill also features Cole Swindell, Mitchell Tenpenny, the Peach Pickers and DJ Rock. Bryan will continue to award college scholarships to students from farming families attending colleges or universities that are near the tour stops. More than 60 scholarships have been granted to date.
