Record Store Day Black Friday

Vinyl fans won’t have to wait until the spring to get their hands on exclusive titles with the announcement of Record Store Day Black Friday event on 23 November.

This year, the event is spread out over two days: Black Friday (23 November) and Small Business Saturday (24 November) in the US.

The annual celebration of independent record stores has a slew of exciting titles for collectors and beyond, from the first-ever vinyl pressings of Collective Soul’s double-platinum 1993 debut, Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid, to the Violent Femmes’ 2005 best-of collection, Permanent Record: The Very Best of Violent Femmes, to rare out-of-print titles like the self-titled debut from Butch Trucks’ pre-Allman Brothers Band group, The 31st of February.

In addition to rare reissues, the list also includes some new releases including a picture disc edition of Smashing Pumpkins’ new album Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun, Weezer’s cover of ‘Africa’ by Toto on a Africa-shaped picture disc 10” single and John Coltrane’s “lost album” Selections From Both Sides At Once.

For vinyl fans outside of the US, the organization shared this note:

“Black Friday, for better or worse, is an American “thing”. Many other countries are celebrating the kick-off to the holiday season, though, and record stores in those countries may have some of these releases. They just probably won’t call them Black Friday titles. Check with your local record store if you’re not in the US.”
