An unboxing video has been shared for the forthcoming Freddie Mercury box set Never Boring. It shows the various components of this specially-curated collection of the music, visuals, written and spoken words of the Queen frontman. The set is due for release on 11 October by Hollywood Records in North America and Mercury Records in the rest of the world.

The video opens with the Mercury quote that inspired the title of the box set, when he said “You can do anything with my work, but never make me boring.” The set has been compiled and produced by Justin Shirley-Smith, Kris Fredriksson and Joshua J Macrae, Queen’s longtime sound team, who also co-produced the massively successful Bohemian Rhapsody film soundtrack.

The box will include three CDs containing a total of 32 tracks, a Blu-ray and DVD with 13 promo videos and an interview remade in high definition, plus a 120-page, 10”x10” hardback book packed with images, many of which are rare and unpublished.

Never Boring also contains thoughts and quotes from Mercury himself, and has an introduction by Rami Malek, whose portrayal of the entertainer in Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation’s smash hit movie Bohemian Rhapsody won him an Oscar. A double-sided poster with an image of Mercury and an original work from synesthetic artist Jack Coulter, inspired by his song ‘Mr Bad Guy,’ are also part of the new package.

In another of the quotes featured in the book and the unboxing video, Mercury says: “Some people can take second best, but I can’t. I look upon it as a defeat. If you’ve got the taste of being number one, then number two isn’t good enough.” On another page, he pronounces with remarkable foresight: “I’m not going to be a star, I’m going to be a legend!”

Never Boring is released on 11 October. Pre-order it here.
