Watch Jhené Aiko’s Acoustic Performance Of ‘BS’ With HER
The “Chilombo” artist performed a remote duet with HER for BET’s “Saving Our Selves” COVID-19 Relief Fundraiser.
Yesterday, best-selling R&B artist Jhené Aiko teamed up with HER for a soothing, acoustic performance of their song ‘BS’, off Aiko’s chart-topping third album Chilombo. The remote duet, each performed from the artists’ homes, was part of BET’s star-studded telethon, Saving Our Selves: A BET COVID-19 Relief Effort.

Aiko and HER joined a variety of talent, including Chance The Rapper, DJ Khaled and Fantasia, to help raise funds for members of the African American community who have been impacted by the virus. Presented in partnership with the United Way Worldwide and the NAACP, the live broadcast was hosted by Anthony Anderson, Terrence J, Regina Hall and Kelly Rowland, and also featured rousing performances by Ludacris and Jermaine Dupri, John Legend and Anthony Hamilton, among others.
Released 6 March, Aiko’s emotionally-charged new album, Chilombo, debuted at No.1 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart, and at No.2 on the Billboard 200. Chilombo not only marks the best-selling album of Aiko’s career, but it also broke records as the highest album debut from a female R&B artist since Beyoncé’s 2016 LP, Lemonade.
On a global level, Aiko scored her highest-charting album and first Top 20 record in the UK with Chilombo, while in Canada, the album peaked at No.7, marking her first Top Ten in the country.
In a recent interview with GQ’s The Drop-In, Aiko discussed her use of fascinating use of healing bowls on Chilombo. Aiko employed the bowls on every track on the album, intending to activate a different chakra in the listener with each song. “The bowls I use are not your typical white crystal bowls”, she shared. “They’re infused with different gemstones and minerals and metals. I have one that’s ruby and platinum, so the properties of the ruby are contributing to the vibrations of that particular bowl. They all sound different each time I play them.”
