More Stars Join Jack Bruce Tribute
More artists have been added to the bill for ‘Sunshine Of Your Love,’ the all-star tribute concert to the late Jack Bruce. As we reported in March, the event — which is already sold out — will take place at the Roundhouse in London on Saturday, October 24, 2015.
Hugh Cornwell, formerly of the Stranglers, Uli Jon Roth of Scorpions, Bernie Marsden of Whitesnake and Nico Bruce (Jack’s nephew, and also a bass player) will now perform at the tribute to the much-loved and groundbreaking British musician. The show takes place on the eve of his passing last autumn at the age of 71.
They join a cast list that already Jack’s former Cream bandmate Ginger Baker, Phil Manzanera, Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Vernon Reid of Living Colour, Mark King of Level 42, Liam Bailey, vocalists Joss Stone and Fiona Bevan and Bruce’s own Big Blues Band.
The concert will raise funds for Jack’s favourite charity, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). The musical director for the evening will be artist and composer Nitin Sawhney, who has revealed further plans about the evening in prospect.
“I am very excited about the repertoire chosen by Jack’s wife Margrit and his family,“ says Sawhney. “The show will consist of two halves, covering the broad range of Jack’s solo work and his most classic gems with Cream.
“Each half will build energy in the way that Jack was used to, culminating in an explosive and uplifting conclusion to a wonderful night of Jack’s favourite collaborators, friends and legendary musicians performing his work.”
