Country Christmas Vinyl Under The Tree From Reba McEntire, Lady Antebellum & Darius Rucker
Three Christmas albums by favourite country artists are newly available in the US on vinyl. The reissues are the holiday discs by Reba McEntire, Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker.
The 30th anniversary release of McEntire’s Merry Christmas To You, on MCA Nashville/UMe, marks the first appearance on vinyl for the long out-of-print title since it first appeared in 1987. The album featured the country queen’s versions of ‘Away In A Manger,’ ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘Silent Night’ as well as ‘White Christmas,’ ‘I’ll Be Home For Christmas’ and ‘The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire).’ It went on to double platinum certification in the US.
McEntire recently made her debut as the host of the eighth annual CMA Country Christmas, a two-hour holiday special that aired 27 November on ABC, to record ratings. Due to be repeated on 23 December, it included performances by McEntire, Lady Antebellum, Luke Bryan, Trisha Yearwood, Alan Jackson and others.
Speaking of Lady Antebellum, their festive set of 2012, On This Winter’s Night, now makes its vinyl debut on Capitol Nashville/UMe. The gold-selling album included their original title track and remakes of ‘A Holly Jolly Christmas,’ ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You,’ ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ and ‘Blue Christmas.’ The trio perform ‘This Christmas’ and ‘Silver Bells’ on the ABC special.
Rucker’s Home For The Holidays, also on Capitol Nashville, first appeared in 2014, when it reached No. 3 on Billboard’s country charts and No. 2 on Top Holiday Albums. It included his original ‘What God Wants For Christmas’ and ‘Candy Cane Christmas’ and versions of such standards as ‘Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow,’ ‘Winter Wonderland’ and ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.’ Now making its first appearance on vinyl, the album also featured a duet with Rucker’s friend Sheryl Crow on ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside.’ He will perform ‘Winter Wonderland’ on ABC’s The Disney Parks’ Magical Christmas Celebration on Christmas morning.
