Liquid-Filled Glitter Vinyl Editions Arrive For Five Holiday Albums
The five limited-edition releases will be available individually or together through uDiscover and The Sound Of Vinyl.
Holiday albums by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, The Beach Boys and Motown artists will arrive on liquid-filled glitter vinyl on October 30 as part of UMe’s Sparkling Holiday Liquid-Filled series. The five limited-edition releases feature gold or silver glitter suspended in liquid-filled records. They will be sold individually or as a complete bundle, exclusively through the uDiscover Music and The Sound of Vinyl stores.
The collection includes Crosby’s Ultimate Christmas, which brings together “White Christmas,” “Mele Kalikimaka” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?” His edition will also feature a refreshed cover. Sinatra’s collection, also titled Ultimate Christmas, includes “Jingle Bells,” “Mistletoe and Holly” and “The Christmas Waltz,” placing both singers’ seasonal recordings alongside the other titles in the series.
Cole’s The Christmas Song features its title track alongside “Joy to the World” and “Deck the Hall.” The selection spans carols and the familiar opening lines about chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Cole is one of three solo vocalists represented in the collection, alongside Crosby and Sinatra.
The Beach Boys’ Christmas Album brings the group’s vocal harmonies to a program of holiday originals and familiar favorites. Its selections include “Little Saint Nick,” “The Man With All the Toys” and “Merry Christmas.” The album adds the band’s California sound to a series that also draws on traditional pop and Motown’s roster.
The fifth release, A Motown Christmas, is a double LP featuring The Temptations, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles and The Jackson 5, among others. It brings several of the label’s acts together on one holiday compilation, making it the multi-artist entry in a collection otherwise devoted to individual performers and The Beach Boys.
