“2LOUD” draws on REI AMI’s experience of being told she was too loud or doing too much. Rather than presenting that criticism as something to temper, the song turns it into its central idea and a statement of self-assertion. “If you think I’ve been too loud, then I don’t know what to tell you because I’m about to get even louder,” she said. “Cry about it or get some ear plugs.” A visualizer for the track has also been released alongside the single.
REI AMI’s role in KPop Demon Hunters connected her with HUNTR/X’s “Golden,” which became the first song by a K-pop girl group to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The multi-platinum single spent multiple weeks at the top of the chart and has passed one billion streams worldwide. The film, meanwhile, is Netflix’s most-streamed film project of all time. HUNTR/X’s awards-season run included Oscar and Grammy wins tied to the film’s music.
The success of “Golden” led to a series of live appearances for the HUNTR/X singers, including performances at the Oscars, BRIT Awards and BAFTAs. REI AMI also appeared with the group during KATSEYE’s Sahara Tent set at Coachella for a surprise performance.
