‘Rocketman’, ‘Cats’ And ‘Judy’ Among The Nominees For 2020 Golden Globes

Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Elton John all earned nominations for best original song for a movie for ‘Cats’, ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Rocketman’.

Cats, the Elton John biopic Rocketman and the Judy Garland film, Judy, are among the nominees for awards at the 2020 Golden Globes.

The nominations for the 77th Annual Golden Globes were announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association today, 9 December, with Tim Allen Dakota Falling and Susan Kelechi Watson doing the honours at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Among the leading nominees for the awards were the divorce drama Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story (with six nominations), Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with five each, with Joker, and The Two Popes with four each. Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Elton John all earned nominations for best original song for a movie for, respectively, Cats, The Lion King and Rocketman.

In television, Chernobyl, The Crown and Unbelievable each earned four nominations, with three each for Barry, Big Little Lies, Fleabag, Fosse/Verdon, The Kominsky Method, The Morning Show and Succession.

The 2020 Golden Globes, hosted for the fifth time by Ricky Gervais, will air on NBC on 5 January. Tom Hanks will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award during the broadcast, which will also bestow the Carol Burnett Award to Ellen DeGeneres. The Golden Globes ceremony is produced by Dick Clark Productions, which shares a parent company with Billboard.
