John Fogerty Performs CCR Classic, ‘Lodi’, With His Children
“If anything good is coming out of this, it’s that I get to spend time with my family making music, spreading love through music”.
John Fogerty has been enjoying some quality family time at his home studio while isolating amid the coronavirus. Today, in the second instalment of what he’s calling, “Cosmo’s Factory/Fogerty’s Factory”, the Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman and his three children performed their own rendition of the band’s classic 1969 single, ‘Lodi’.

The video features Fogerty’s sons Shane and Tyler (on bass and acoustic guitar, respectively), as well as his daughter Kelsy, also helming the acoustic guitar. Fogerty played the electric guitar and sang the song, which tells the story of a down-and-out musician who has run out of money on the road and, as the lyrics go, is “Stuck in Lodi again”. The song, off CCR’s third studio album, Green River, feels particularly fitting in this time of quarantine.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Fogerty said that, “I think it is important that we don’t take things for granted anymore”, about these unprecedented times. “My daughter Kelsy, who is a senior in high school and is missing so much – her prom, graduation – said that to us yesterday. Right on, Kelsy! If anything good is coming out of this, it’s that I get to spend time with my family making music, spreading love through music.”
Fogerty’s sons, meanwhile, are following in the musical footsteps of their legendary dad. Shane and Tyler both front the psychedelic rock group Hearty Har, while Shane is also part of his father’s regular band.
Earlier this month, the family quartet kicked off their “Cosmo’s Factory/Fogerty’s Factory”, sessions with a performance of the band’s single, ‘Down On The Corner’, off 1969’s Willy And The Poor Boys. The Forgertys also recreated the famous Cosmo’s Factory cover photo, which John tweeted to his fans today, writing, “50 years later…‘FOGERTY’S FACTORY!’ During this pandemic we re-created the iconic album cover of Cosmo’s Factory by collecting items around the house, including the Kustom Amp that was played at Woodstock – complete with Bob Fogerty shooting this cover!”
Most recently, Fogerty played a few songs from home for Rolling Stone’s “In My Room” IGTV series, while looking ahead, the artist is scheduled to play a nine-day residency at Las Vegas’ Wynn Hotel this November, where he will perform hits from his 50-year-long career.
