JID Drops ‘GDLU (Preluxe)’ Mixtape
Featuring appearances from Eminem, Lil Yachty, and 6lack, the mixtape arrives ahead of the Atlanta rapper’s fifth album ‘God Does Like Ugly,’ out in August.

JID has dropped a new mixtape. GDLU (Preluxe) features appearances from Eminem, Lil Yachty, and 6lack. On Instagram, JID wrote that the mixtape is composed of “4 rap songs that were almost on the album and I felt I had to share!!” The mixtape follows the drop of his most recent freestyle, “32,” in which he raps over an instrumental of Playboi Carti’s “HBA.”
JID and Eminem have previously collaborated on “Fuel” off the latter’s twelfth studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). In 2023, Lil Yachty and JID reunited under their Blakkboyz moniker for a double single titled Blakkboyz Present Half Doin Dope/Van Gogh. 6lack featured on JID’s first two albums, 2017’s The Never Story and 2018’s DiCaprio 2.
The Atlanta rapper’s fifth album, God Does Like Ugly, is out August 8 via Dreamville/Interscope. JID shared the album’s lead single “WRK” ahead of the release. The rapper shared a short visual featuring a post-apocalyptic Atlanta as an album teaser. He also recently shared a song titled “Beau,” though it is unclear if this track will appear on God Does Like Ugly.
After the release of “WRK,” JID on social media about entering a new musical era. “Starting this new journey coming off THE FOREVER STORY has been a very strange, productive, yet tedious process,” he wrote. “I remember not feeling like I got what I think I deserved after that album came out and it sent me into a dark place (for maybe 20 mins cuz I ain’t no b—h). Fast-forward to Pluss playing this beat for me in the studio and all I could hear was my OG coach saying, ‘Let’s go to WORK.’ I live my life by the saying ‘You can only control what you can control.’ So this is the first step into a new world that I control…and it’s f—kin UGLY.”
God Does Like Ugly will be the rapper’s first album since 2022’s The Forever Story, which debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200. The Forever Story was supported by two singles, “Surround Sound” and “Dance Now”, as well as the promotional single “2007,” which features spoken parts by J.Cole, Ib Hamad, and JID’s own father.
JID’s collaboration with Offset, the Drowning Pool-sampling “Bodies,” recently debuted at No. 72 on the Billboard Top 100 charts.
