The Jackson 5’s ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ Set For Release On 7” Vinyl
Released with B-side ‘Christmas Won’t Be The Same This Year,’ The Jackson 5 will be included in UMe’s collection of collectible vinyl for the holiday season.

This year, UMe will once again release a collection of Christmas classics on 7” vinyl, including the iconic Jackson 5 tracks “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” / “Christmas Won’t Be The Same This Year.” The single will be issued on Apple Red vinyl and will be available in time for the holidays.
Last year, UMe released a whole slew of modern holiday classics, including The Beach Boys’ “Little Saint Nick,” Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” Burl Ives’ “A Holly Jolly Christmas,” and Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song.” This year will bring a whole new collection of tracks and collectible vinyl. Both the 2024 and 2025 editions will be brought together in a new carrying case collection.
Released on their fourth album, The Jackson 5 Christmas Album, both “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” and “Christmas Won’t Be The Same This Year” have remained in Christmas rotation for over 50 years after their release. In fact, it wasn’t until the album and the single “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” were out for 50 years that they actually charted on the Billboard charts. The album charted at number 36 in 2023, and the single made it all the way to number 30 on the Hot 100 in early 2024.
1970 was a very busy year for the family band, with The Jackson 5 releasing three albums and touring extensively. The Christmas Album was an instant hit and remains beloved to this day, with the band and eventually even Michael Jackson as a solo artist carrying associations with Christmas further into their careers. In 1972, the brothers were the honorary chairmen of the Watts Christmas Parade in Los Angeles. 20 years later, Michael shared a Christmas message in-line with his closely held beliefs on human compassion: “Let’s love one another, let’s forget hatred, and turn to those that are suffering, not just today, but every day.”
