A Perfect Circle’s ‘Thirteenth Step’ Gets Zoetrope Vinyl
The 2026 edition pairs four zoetrope animations with a premium gatefold jacket.
A Perfect Circle will release a limited-edition zoetrope pressing of its 2003 album Thirteenth Step on November 20. The 2LP set features four distinct animations, one on each side of the records.
The edition comes in a gatefold jacket with enhanced cover art and yellow inner sleeves. Played at 33 1/3 RPM, the zoetrope images can be viewed through a phone’s video app or with a strobe app. The 12-song tracklist includes “Weak and Powerless,” “The Outsider” and “Blue.”
Thirteenth Step was the band’s second studio album, following 2000’s Mer de Noms. The group was co-founded by vocalist Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Billy Howerdel. The edition’s product description also names drummer Josh Freese, bassist Jeordie “Twiggy Ramirez” White and touring guitarist James Iha. The album reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in the U.S.

The new pressing arrives during a period of renewed activity for the band. A Perfect Circle released “To Whom It May Concern” in 2026 and announced a North American tour for 2027. The run is scheduled to begin in Vancouver on April 13 and conclude in Phoenix on June 13.
