Marley’s Classic Lyceum Shows Relived

Bob Marley Live 3LP Packshot - 530

Bob Marley And The Wailers’ historic 1975 performances at the Lyceum in London are to be released as complete sets from both shows, as a 3LP set in 180g black vinyl and as a digital package, on 16 December.

The tri-gatefold package will also feature a reproduction of the tour programme from the reggae trailblazers’ 1975 tour.  The release features no fewer than 14 previously unreleased performances, and two previously unreleased full-length versions. The second concert formed the famous original version of the Bob Marley And the Wailers – Live! album, released in December of that year.

On the same release day, a seven-inch live vinyl disc will also be made available as an exclusive here at uDiscover and at the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston, Jamaica.

No-Woman-No-CryThe London shows on 17 and 18 July, 1975 (and the ‘No Woman, No Cry’ single released from the album) came to be regarded as the seminal moments in introducing Marley and the Wailers to a wider audience. They featured the band’s classic line-up with bassist Aston “Family Man” Barrett, drummer Carlton “Carly” Barrett, guitarist Al Anderson, keyboardist Tyrone Downie, percussionist Alvin “Seeco” Patterson and the I-Three, comprising vocalists Rita Marley, Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths.

Both London shows were recorded on The Rolling Stones’ mobile studio, with seven songs from the second concert released as the Live! album. The recording was subsequently broadcast as part of the syndicated radio program King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1976. The UK tour then visited the Odeon in Birmingham on 19 July and the Hard Rock in Manchester 24 hours later, with the seeds of the Marley legend well and truly sown.

The expanded 3LP Bob Marley and the Wailers – Live! is due for release on 16 December. An exclusive limited-edition version with bonus ‘No Woman, No Cry’ 7” is available for pre-order here:
