Billie Eilish was announced as the winner of the ‘Newcomer Of The Year’ award at the 2019 European Festival Awards. The event was held on 15 January at De Oosterpoort in Groningen, the Netherlands.
Since its inception in 2009, the European Festival Awards has honoured festivals and individuals in such areas as health and safety, social awareness, forward thinking and sustainability.
Eilish’s debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, has reached No. 1 in several European countries — the U.K., Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden — as well as in the U.S. (on the Billboard 200), Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Lucy Dickins, who heads WME’s U.K. music division, won the ‘Agent Of The Year’ award. Her client roster includes such international stars as Adele and Mumford & Sons.
Elsewhere in Billie Eilish news, the star was recently announced to perform at next month’s BRIT Awards in London on 18 February, alongside Lewis Capaldi, Harry Styles and more.
Capaldi and rapper Dave are the most nominated artists for the 2020 BRIT Awards, with four nominations apiece. Both the ‘Someone You Loved’ singer and ‘Location’ rapper are up for awards in the Male Solo Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, and Album of the Year categories. As for US artists, Eilish was also nominated for a BRIT Award, where she’s up against Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello Lana Del Rey and Lizzo for International Female Solo Artist.
