Celebrating its 13th anniversary, The Roots have unveiled the line-up for their annual star-studded concert, ‘Roots Picnic’ on 31 May in Philadelphia.
For the second year in a row, the festival will take place at the Mann at Fairmount Park, Philadelphia and include three stages of music, gaming, art and dialogue.
This year’s line-up includes Philly’s own Meek Mill, along with rising R&B star Summer Walker, DaBaby, Snoh Aalegra, Burna Boy and Thundercat, among others.
The legendary Roots crew will also present a curated set in celebration of R&B titled, The Roots Present SOUL, with special guests Brandy, SWV and Musiq Soulchild, who’s celebrating the 20th anniversary of his seminal album Aijuswanaseing.
The Roots’ Black Thought and J Period will also be staging their “Live Mixtape” showcase, this time featuring up-and-coming-Buffalo based rappers Griselda, along with veteran Wu Tang Clan members Ghostface and Raekwon.

“’Roots Picnic’ continues to align with music and culture and remains known for careful curation that unites music’s hottest acts, influencers, tastemakers, and thought leaders for one unforgettable day – and this year proudly continues that tradition,” reads the press statement.
This year’s picnic also includes a special performance by Meshell Ndegeocello titled, ‘Reimagining Prince and This Thing Called Life’.
Along with the musical performances, the live podcast experience returns this year with live episodes of Around the Way Curls Podcast, The Read and Questlove Supreme as well as CRWN with Elliott Wilson.
Tickets go on sale starting Tuesday, 11 February at 12pm local time until Thursday, 13 February at 10pm local time for Citi cardmembers.
