Former Bluesbreakers and Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, vocalist Terry Reid and producer-musician Trevor Horn are among the latest names to join An Evening For Jack, the charity concert for Jack Bruce taking place in London next Tuesday (25).

British singers Lulu, Paul Young and Maggie Reilly have also been added to the bill, as has American multi-instrumentalist (and early member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band) David Sancious. Broadcaster Bob Harris will host the show, early details of which we announced exclusively on uDiscover.

They join Jack’s former Cream bandmate Ginger Baker, his 1980s collaborator Billy Cobham and former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett in the line-up at the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire show. It takes place on the second anniversary of Bruce’s passing.

Musical direction and curation for the night will be by his son and musician Malcolm Bruce and his longtime co-writer in Cream and elsewhere, Pete Brown, and Jack’s. Proceeds are going to Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy and to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), his favourite local charity.

Other performers already announced include Eddi Reader, Bernie Marsden and members of the Bruce “clan” such as Jack’s granddaughter Maya Sage, his nephew Iain ‘Nico’ Bruce and Ginger’s son Kofi Baker. Other collaborators will also perform, including Dennis Chambers, Jeff Berlin, Corky Laing, ‘Clem’ Clempson, Gary ‘Mudbone’ Cooper and Chris Spedding.

Bruce tells us that the show’s set list will reflect his father’s time with Cream, but stretch far beyond it. “The thing Jack is best-known for is two and a half years of a blues-rock band,” he observes. “They were far more than that, of course, and sure, they expanded exponentially, they changed the musical landscape. But the show is a chronological journey through a more than 55-year career.”

Tickets for An Evening For Jack can be purchased here.
