The album was originally released as a 16 track album, before Taylor unveiled that the album is, in fact, a 31 track double album.

At midnight, the pop icon Tweeted: “At this hearing, I stand before my fellow members of The Tortured Poets Department with a summary of my findings. Album tonight. Fortnight music video tomorrow at 8pm et.”

Two hours later, she added: “It’s a 2am surprise: The Tortured Poets Department is a secret DOUBLE album. I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours.

In addition to the Post Malone-assisted “Fortnite,” Florence + the Machine are featured on “Florida!!!”

Swift first announced the project while accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Album win for Midnights at the 2024 Grammy Awards. During her acceptance speech she said, “This is my 13th Grammy.”

She continued, “I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans. So I want to say ‘thank you’ to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years—which is that my brand new album comes out April 19.”

Upon revelation of this news, Swift has teased some of the lyrics on social media, including the album’s tagline: “All’s fair in love and poetry.”
