50 Cent’s ‘Just A Lil Bit’ Joins The Spotify Billions Club
The rapper’s 2005 hit has surpassed a billion streams on the platform.
50 Cent is back in the Billions Club once again. “Just A Lil Bit,” a hit from the rapper’s 2005 album The Massacre, has surpassed a billion streams on Spotify. It’s 50’s sixth song to enter the Spotify Billions Club following “In Da Club,” “Candy Shop,” “P.I.M.P.,” “Hate It Or Love It,” and “21 Questions.”
“Just A Little Bit” was the third single from The Massacre, 50’s follow-up to his landscape-shifting 2003 album Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. His hot streak continued with The Massacre, which sent all four of its singles to the Billboard Hot 100 top 10. Recorded under the working title The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, the album might have spawned even more hits had 50 not given several tracks, like the classic “Hate It Or Love It,” to the Game for his own album The Documentary. But The Massacre still put up a historic sales debut even without those songs, moving 1.14 million copies in its first four days—the sixth-biggest debut of the Nielsen SoundScan era at the time.

“Just A Lil Bit” peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100 and finished out 2005 as the year’s 17th biggest hit overall according to the year-end Hot 100. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA the following year and has since gone 3x Platinum. It was also a top 10 pop hit in Canada, New Zealand, and the UK among other countries. Beyond the pop charts, “Just A Lil Bit” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart.
The song’s sitar-based beat comes from producer Scott Storch, who also produced “Candy Shop.” After hearing Storch’s available beats during a trip to Miami, 50 recorded both singles in the same day. For the music video, directed by Benny Boom, 50 headed to Cancún to star as “El Jefe,” a crime boss who employs beautiful women to set up his enemies. Those adversaries were portrayed by three recognizable actors: Emilio Rivera (Sons Of Anarchy), Hassan Johnson (The Wire), and Jesús Ochoa (Man On Fire).
