Katy Perry’s new album 143 has received an official release date from Capitol Records. The label announced today that the pop superstar’s next record is out on September 20. The same day 143 is set to drop, Perry is also scheduled for a sold-out headlining performance in Brazil at Rock in Rio, her first appearance at the festival since 2015.

The news of 143‘s release date follows the debut of lead single, “Woman’s World” on Thursday. The track arrived alongside an accompanying music video directed by Charlotte Rutherford in Perry’s classically campy style. Prior to releasing “Woman’s World,” Perry debuted the lyrics to the song on the lengthy train of a red Noir Kei Ninomiya dress she wore in June at Paris Fashion Week. She also recently shared snippets of multiple new songs on Instagram Live.

143 is Perry’s first album since 2020’s Smile. Last year, she also shared a 15th-anniversary edition of her iconic major-label debut One Of The Boys. Of her upcoming record, she shares in a statement: “I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message.”

Since Perry released One Of The Boys in 2008—preceded by its hit lead single “I Kissed A Girl,” still one of the singer’s most iconic cuts—she has become one of the best-selling musical artists of all time. She is one of only twelve artists ever to have surpassed 100 million certified sales units—Perry’s albums and tracks currently hold a cumulative 115 billion streams. In 2015, she hosted the Super Bowl halftime show and brought out Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz. The performance spawned the viral “Left Shark” meme, won two Primetime Creative Arts Emmys, and attracted an audience of over 118 million viewers on NBC.
