Hoffstadt and Rubio wrote “Water” with BURNS, Pablo Bowman, and CASTLE, with Hoffstadt and BURNS handling production. Rubio sings about becoming a source of comfort as night falls. Hoffstadt said he had played the song in his sets for more than a year before its release, and described it as a departure from what listeners might expect from his dance music. He also said the song came together during a writing session in Los Angeles.
The pair first performed “Water” together at Portola Festival 2026. Rubio called the collaboration a natural fit with her debut album, late night swim, describing the single as an extension of that record. The release follows Hoffstadt’s October collaboration with David Guetta, “Caught Up.”
Both artists have live dates ahead. Hoffstadt is scheduled to play Ultra in Mexico City on November 7 and EDC Orlando on November 8. Rubio will perform a series of headline shows in California in December, with dates in San Francisco, Felton, Ventura, West Hollywood, Santa Ana, and San Diego.
