Queen Pop-Up Store Opens On London’s Carnaby Street
The pop-up includes official ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ film merchandise, a tattoo artist, a large collection of Queen products for sale and much more.
A Queen-themed Pop-Up Store opens today, 18 October, on Carnaby Street in London. The store showcases photographs, prints, exclusive Live Aid footage and show-stopping costumes. In addition to this, there is official Bohemian Rhapsody film merchandise, a tattoo artist, a grooming station and a large collection of Queen products for sale.
Freddie Mercury Madame Tussauds Waxwork
Visitors to the pop-up shop and exhibition can also expect further activity including a visit from the official Madame Tussauds’ Freddie Mercury waxwork. The Queen pop-up experience will be open until 6 January 2019 and the opening times are 10am – 8pm from Monday to Saturday and from 12pm – 6pm on Sundays.
In addition, anyone visiting Carnaby Street this Sunday, 21 October at 7pm will see Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor and the stars of Bohemian Rhapsody unveil the street’s amazing new light installation. Visitors can expect to be dazzled by giant colourful neon lyrics including Queen’s iconic opening ‘Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?’ along with the playful ‘Galileo’ and ‘Figaro’. Elsewhere, Queen’s crest – designed by Freddie Mercury himself – will feature on Carnaby’s iconic arches, with a giant illuminated crown topping Carnaby’s shimmer flag.
As uDiscover Music previously reported, 20th Century Fox’s much-anticipated Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody premieres at London’s SSE Wembley Arena on 23 October and then arrives in UK cinemas on 24 October. A foot-stomping celebration of Queen’s music and tribute to a man who dared to change everything, the film stars Rami Malek as iconic frontman Freddie Mercury, alongside Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Gwilym Lee as Brian May and Joe Mazzello as John Deacon.

“Like Queen, the Fox team were obsessed with detail; getting every aspect of every scene perfectly right”, Queen archivist Greg Brooks has said of the making of the film. “With costume, for example, they didn’t just cover the basics; it meant sourcing precisely the right pair of blue denim jeans for 1972, with the correct belt, socks and footwear. And thus, from us, they needed every photograph we had of Queen relaxing off stage. ‘What photos do you have of Roger’s socks, Greg?’ is the type of question that came at me, and that wasn’t even one of the strangest,” he added.
