Rising Nashville star Billy Strings takes aim at America’s military-industrial complex on his new brooding single, “Wargasm,” featuring the rapper RMR.

Hailed as “the future of Bluegrass,” there’s nothing traditional about Strings, whose music transcends genre and flouts convention.

“Same sh_t, different century,” he sings, atop his high velocity, flat-picking guitar technique, while the mysterious rapper RMR chimes in:

“You’re the reason I’ve been going psycho/it’s too ugly still can’t keep my eyes close,” RMR sing-raps. “I’m the one with the knife stuck in my back again.”

The masked LA-based rapper, pronounced “rumor,” first appeared when his 2020 song “Rascal” – based on the country band Rascal Flatts’ song “Bless the Broken Road” – went viral.

“Wargasm,” was written by Strings, RMR, Aaron Allen, and Jon Weisberger, and premiered alongside an animated lyric video featuring towering war machines and weaponry.

The track marks the first release of new music recorded in the studio by Strings outside of his “The Great Divide” collaboration with Luke Combs and since his Grammy-winning 2019 album Home.

The release adds to a landmark year for Strings, who will continue his extensive headline tour into the fall with newly confirmed shows at Las Vegas’ Event Lawn at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Los Angeles’ The Belasco, Oakland’s Fox Theater, Portland’s McMenamins Edgefield Amphitheater, Seattle’s King County’s Marymoor Park, Missoula’s KettleHouse Amphitheater, Wichita’s Wave and Oklahoma City’s The Jones Assembly among many others

Known for his electric live shows, Strings has continued to perform consistently throughout 2021 both virtually and in-person.
