BTS won over music lovers worldwide this year, with Map of the Soul: 7 coming in as the No. 1 pick in the annual Billboard poll.

Fans voted in the Billboard poll, published earlier in December, choosing the K-pop boy band’s fourth Korean-language and seventh overall album as their all-time favorite project to be released this year with 30.66% of the vote. The group’s platinum-certified album launched their highest-charting solo Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit at the time with “On” peaking at No. 4 on the all-genre tally back in March.

Coming in close second was Folklore, Taylor Swift’s first surprise set of 2020, with 29.28% of the vote. (Her eighth studio album also came in as Billboard staffers’ No. 1 album of 2020 and eventually became the first album to sell a million copies in the U.S. this year.)

Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia rounded out fans’ top three picks by coming in third place with 6.49% of the vote. Her sophomore set is up for the prestigious album of the year nod at the 2021 Grammys, as well as for best pop vocal album.

BTS latest album, Be, also bowed at the top of the Billboard 200 on release in November this year. The K-Pop stars’ new set, which was released via Big Hit Entertainment on November 20, arrived with 242,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending November 26, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Be is a mostly-Korean-language release, but does feature the group’s first all-English song, “Dynamite.” The track marked the act’s first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated Sept. 5. It also recently garnered the group its first Grammy Award nomination, for best pop duo/group performance. Be is the 11th mostly non-English album to hit No. 1. Of the 11 leaders that were recorded mostly in a language other than English, five have been by BTS.
