Carly Pearce, Luke Combs Set To Announce CMA Nominees Sept 1
The country stars will reveal the 54th annual CMA Award nominations live on ‘Good Morning America.’
Nominees for the 54th annual CMA Awards will be revealed next Tuesday, September 1, live from Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House. Country stars Carly Pearce and Luke Combs will kick off the events on Good Morning America, beginning at 8:30 am local time.
Following Pearce and Combs’ initial announcements, Gabby Barrett and Ingrid Andress will follow with the remainder of the categories, plus CMA Broadcast Awards finalists, via CMA’s YouTube channel, as well as through Good Morning America’s website.
Additional details, including a ceremony date and host, are forthcoming for the 2020 CMA Awards. In December, longtime host Carrie Underwood announced that she would be stepping down from her duties, after helming the awards show for 12 years. 11 of those years were shared alongside Brad Paisley, while in 2019, Underwood co-hosted with Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton.
Underwood, who is looking forward to releasing her debut Christmas album later this year, said that “One of the highlights of 2019 and of my entire career so far was being on stage with the legends that are Reba and Dolly Parton. I’m so proud that we could celebrate the incredible female artists that are part of the legacy of country music, past, present, and future, and I’m thankful for the huge audiences all over the world that tuned in to see it.”
She added, “I will always treasure every show, from the 11 that I was so lucky to do with my partner in crime and friend for life, Brad Paisley, to sharing the stage with two of my all-time heroes. I’m so incredibly grateful to everyone involved with the CMA Awards all these years.”
Carly Pearce, meanwhile, received her first CMA nod in 2019 for New Artist of the Year. After signing to Big Machine Records in 2017, Pearce scored a Top Five Country album with her debut, Every Little Thing. Her self-titled follow-up dropped this past February, and quickly became a Top 10 Country album in the US and the UK – thanks in part to the hit single “I Hope You’re Happy Now.” The duet, featuring Lee Brice, was praised by Rolling Stone as one of the 25 Best Country and Americana Songs of 2019.
