For ‘Hotline Bling’, Bayley recorded his contribution from quarantine in his London studio, though on this occasion he was joined by vocalist Arlo Parks, who tuned in via livestream to add her vocals.

Drake’s original version of ‘Hotline Bling’ was the lead single from his fourth studio album Views (2016). The song reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. It also reached number three in Drake’s native Canada and the United Kingdom. The song won the award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Song at the 2016 American Music Awards. It also received two wins at the 2017 Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Performance.

Due to an overwhelming response from fans, Glass Animals recently released the first selection of Bayley’s quarantine-recorded songs in a new EP, called ‘Quarantine Covers Part 1’. This first instalment includes covers of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ and Lana Del Rey’s ‘Young & Beautiful’. Additionally, the band just announced their new, interactive Open Source website – a unique online hub that gives fans the tools to create their own music and art.

While in his home studio in London, Bayley kicked off ‘Quarantine Covers’ on 21 March with a chilled-out rendition of ‘Heart-Shaped Box’, off Nirvana’s 1993 album, In Utero. He followed it on 3 April with Lana Del Rey’s 2013 single, ‘Young & Beautiful’, originally recorded for Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby soundtrack. The artist has since shared a cover of Bill Withers’ 1972 classic, ‘Lean On Me’, as a tribute to the late singer-songwriter.

Most recently, Glass Animals released ‘Your Love (Déjà Vu)’, the newest single off their forthcoming third studio album. Inspired by the genre-jumping ambition of both Timbaland and The Neptunes, ‘Your Love (Déjà vu)’ was produced by Glass Animals frontman Dave Bayley and in the UK, it enjoyed a long residency on the BBC Radio 1 playlist.
