The 20-year-old pop sensation returned with the follow-up to 2021’s SOUR earlier this month, earning rave reviews and No.1 chart placements in the U.S., the U.K., and Australia. All 12 of its tracks also charted in the Top 40 of the Hot 100, including its lead single, “Vampire,” which returned to No.1 after the record’s release.
In a new interview with Amazon Music, Rodrigo selected her preferred tracks from the new record. “My three favorite songs off the album right now are ‘All-American B___h,’ ‘Logical,’ and ‘Love Is Embarrassing,’” she revealed.
She went on to choose the emojis that best represent those songs. “For ‘All-American B___h,’ I might do a baseball emoji,” she said. “I might do a lipstick because the song is kind of about being a girl and fitting into gender norms, and I’d do the exploding firework emoji because it’s just very angry. Screaming, literally.”
Rodrigo paired “Logical” with the crying emoji three times, while “Love Is Embarrassing” was matched with the screaming face “because that’s how it feels,” the concerned face, and an engagement ring. The latter is a reference to the lyric, “I’m planning out my wedding with some guy I’m never marrying.”
Next year, the pop star will take GUTS on the road for a world tour that currently sits at 75 dates. It will kick off on February 23, 2024, in Palm Springs, CA, with stops across North America and Europe, including Miami, Toronto, New York, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and many more, before wrapping up with back-to-back shows on August 17 with a fourth show at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
The Breeders, PinkPantheress, Chappell Roan, and Remi Wolf will join on select dates across the tour. For full dates and to purchase tickets, visit Rodrigo’s official website.
