Watch Glass Animals Cover Lorde’s ‘Solar Power’ During BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Set
The British rock band played fan favorites like ‘I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)’ and ‘Heat Waves’ in addition to the aforementioned title track from Lorde’s most recent album.
Glass Animals celebrated their GRAMMY nomination with a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge performance that saw them play some of their biggest singles as well as a cover of Lorde’s “Solar Power.”
The British rock band played fan favorites like “I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)” and “Heat Waves,” in addition to the aforementioned title track from Lorde’s most recent album. The band brought an electro-indie touch to the song, even including a group of background singers to bolster the performance.

Earlier this month, the band announced announced a short Australian tour to support the release of their current hit album, Dreamland.
The tour will see the Oxford band perform arena shows in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne across July, marking their biggest Australian gigs to date. Curiously, the tour appears to coincide with Byron Bay festival Splendour in the Grass, the full line-up of which is yet to be unveiled.
Glass Animals’ Dreamland single “Heatwaves” topped the triple j Hottest 100 of 2020, making them the first UK band to do so since Mumford & Sons in 2009 with “Little Lion Man”. The group had previously pledged to tattoo themselves with the outline of the Australian continent if they won.
NME gave ‘Dreamland’ a four-star review upon its release in August 2020, writing the band “have overcome a period of intense adversity to bring you a record of deeply personal tales – all set to shimmering pop tunes.”
Elsewhere, Glass Animals recently broke the record of the longest climb to the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with “Heat Waves.” Last week, the single entered the Top 10, a first for the band in their career, after an impressive and record-breaking 42-week streak on the Hot 100 Chart.
Lorde has stayed busy as well. Earlier this month, she released a deluxe version of Solar Power featuring two new songs.
“Hold No Grudge” and “Helen Of Troy” were previously only available on exclusive physical versions of the album, but are now on streaming services for the first time.
