Ume/Big Machine Records has announced the May 6 release of Sheryl Crow’s Sheryl: Music From The Feature Documentary, a companion to the new, full-length film about the artist directed by Amy Scott.

The documentary will have its premiere at SXSW on March 11, ahead of a spring premiere on Showtime. It’s described as “an intimate story of song and sacrifice,” in which the artist “navigates an iconic yet arduous musical career while [battling] sexism, ageism, depression, cancer, and the price of fame, before harnessing the power of her gift.”

The album will be available digitally and on 2CD, and showcases Crow’s biggest hits, such as “If It Makes You Happy,” “All I Wanna Do,” “My Favorite Mistake,” “A Change Would Do You Good,” “Strong Enough,” and many more. It also features deep tracks from her stellar career and three newly-recorded songs.

‘Years of incredible memories’

“I am excited for the premiere of my documentary,” said Crow. “I hope people will find strength and courage through my story. It was a journey through years and years of incredible memories, and I am proud of the beautiful documentary that Amy Scott made about my life.”

The nine-time Grammy-winner sold 35 million copies worldwide of her first nine studio albums, five of which were certified multi-platinum. Crow has collaborated with some of the finest artists in the world, from the Rolling Stones to Bonnie Raitt and from James Taylor to Eric Clapton. At the same time, she has gone to be an inspiration for a new generation of singer-songwriters such as Phoebe Bridgers, H.E.R, Haim, Maren Morris, Lorde, Sasami, Best Coast, and Brandi Carlile.

In June last year, Crow performed many of her best-loved songs in the livestream Sheryl Crow: The Songs And The Stories – A Live Solo Performance, which took place at her “little church” on her Nashville property.
