The Rolling Stones Tease New ‘Scarlet’ Video Starring Paul Mescal

Following the release of their previously unheard track “Scarlet,” The Rolling Stones have announced the official music video is arriving Thursday, featuring Normal People star, Paul Mescal.
The unheard Stones track featuring Jimmy Page and Rick Grech, was released on July 22 and will be included on the box set and deluxe CD and vinyl editions of the forthcoming multi-format release of 1973 classic Goats Head Soup, alongside two previously unreleased tracks “All The Rage” and “Criss Cross”, plus many more rarities, outtakes and alternative mixes.
“Scarlet” combines the familiarity of the Stones’ guitar-based textures and a sound that fits comfortably within their Goats Head Soup period, with an infectious and fresh tension that will delight new and old fans.
The band shared an official teaser ahead of the video’s premiere on Thursday, August 6 at 7:00 pm BST.

As for Mescal, the Irish actor apparently caught the band’s attention (along with the rest of the world) for his star-making turn as Connell Waldron in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s hit novel, Normal People. The role also earned him a recent Emmy nomination, along with rave reviews from the press. The drama has made waves both in the UK and the US, after it aired on BBC Three and Hulu in America.
Goats Head Soup, restored to its full glory and more, will be released by Universal Music in multi-format and deluxe editions on September 4.
In the Radio 2 interview, Jagger added of the newly-available material: “I’m glad they see the light of day, because some of them are just as good as the stuff you put out.” Asked about progress on the Stones’ next album, he said: “I’ve been finishing off the vocals and some other instruments. I’m working on it. We’ve got to get together and do a couple more sessions, I think.”
