Rush Announces ‘2112’ Anniversary, ‘Spirit Of Radio’ Vinyl
The October releases include a Sound of Vinyl exclusive and two greatest-hits configurations.
Rush will release a 50th-anniversary liquid vinyl edition of 2112 and bring The Spirit of Radio: Greatest Hits 1974-1987 to vinyl for the first time on October 2, 2026. The two releases from UMe/Mercury and Anthem Records arrive as the group continues its Fifty Something Tour, which began this summer.
The new 2112 pressing uses black liquid vinyl inspired by the artwork for the band’s 1976 album. The package includes a die-cut opening designed to display the disc, and the edition is available as a Sound of Vinyl exclusive. Rush worked with producer Terry Brown on the original album, whose first side is occupied by the seven-part title suite. Side two includes “A Passage to Bangkok,” “The Twilight Zone,” “Lessons,” “Tears,” and “Something for Nothing.” The record was previously exclusively available at UMusic Shop NY for three days last week, coinciding with Rush’s run of shows at Madison Square Garden.

The Spirit of Radio: Greatest Hits 1974-1987, originally issued in 2003, will be available in two vinyl configurations featuring artwork by longtime Rush creative director Hugh Syme. According to All Music Guide, The Spirit of Radio “presents a lean set of songs that showcase all the best elements of Rush: guitar-driven rock (‘Fly by Night’), arena rock anthems (‘The Spirit of Radio’), social commentaries (‘The Trees’), epic sci-fi excursions (‘2112 Overture/The Temples of Syrinx’), and bold synth experiments (‘Subdivisions’).” You won’t find a better summation of the group’s catalog for Mercury Records.

As mentioned, Rush launched the Fifty Something Tour in Los Angeles in June 2026 with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson joined by drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold, marking the band’s first tour performance in 11 years. Aimee Mann appeared at the first four Kia Forum dates to perform her parts on “Time Stand Still” live with Rush for the first time. The North American leg continues through the rest of 2026, with South American and European dates scheduled for 2027.
