The Who have announced that their six-week Join Together @ Home series of YouTube Premieres will end with a two-part presentation of a rarely-seen 2006 concert over the next two weekends.

The series celebrates some of the great moments in the band’s illustrious live history, in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America, and will culminate in highlights from a performance film that even Roger Daltrey had forgotten about.

The show took place at Piazza Grande in Locarno, Switzerland on July 2006, as part of the Moon and Stars Festival, and will be featured in two parts, of five and six songs respectively, premiering on the next two Saturdays, September 5 and 12, at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm UK.

The rarely-seen concert was especially notable as it contained Pete Townshend’s first of only two performances in Who history of his song “Greyhound Girl,” from their new album of the time, Endless Wire. It was also part of their set three days later at the Théâtre Antique, Vienne, Lyon, but has never appeared in a Who show since.

Townshend’s acoustic performance of the number was part of the bonus disc in the deluxe edition of Endless Wire, as one of seven songs from that show. The song dated back to the his abandoned Lifehouse project of the early 1970s.

“I didn’t even remember this film”

“It’s a very special show,” says Daltrey of the Locarno footage. “I didn’t even remember this film existed! We were getting together after a three-year hiatus. The show was in an extraordinary place, in the town square, with people dancing on their balconies. I have very fond memories of it.”

Join Together @ Home is in partnership with The Who and Eagle Rock Entertainment and is an exclusive YouTube Premieres series. It’s free to view, but fans are being encouraged to make donations to Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America, either via the link on the YouTube page or at www.join-together.org.
