Cheap Trick Interview Part 1: Rick Nielsen Discusses The Band’s New Album, ‘We’re All Alright!’

Cheap Trick Interview

Cheap Trick’s latest album, We’re All Alright!, more than lives up to its title. “It sounds like we’re out of control,” songwriter and lead guitarist, Rick Nielsen, tells uDiscover. Indeed, 44 years into their career, the band are still firing on all cylinders, drawing on a wide range of influences to make something uniquely Cheap Trick.

“We were always kind of heavy – we were pop, but we had elements of everything, That’s what music’s about. We never wanted to be one thing,” Nielsen says. “If we have to make it ourselves, we do it – we put our own money into it. But it’s worth it to make a record. That’s why we’re here.”

I’m 20 years old and can’t afford this bundle. I already bought the Deluxe CD and saw Cheap Trick at Hershey Pa this past July (the 15th). My girlfriend and I screamed our heads off for you guys. Once Foreigner came on we sat down until the last 2 or 3 songs lol. It took me 3 months to save up for the tickets we had (which was on stage right, about 5 sections up from ground level, and about 50 feet away from the stage.(also the closest we had ever been to the stage lol)). I’m a singer and Robin Zander is such an inspiration (though I wouldn’t ever even bother trying to compare myself to him.) I listen to a 68 song Cheap Trick Playlist every single day that I’m at the gym. The reason I say all of this is because I’m trying to prove that I am a huge fan of Cheap Trick and I’m not just trying to win a giveaway. But if I did it would be something I cherish for “The Rest Of My Life”…get it? P.S. love the interview, any interview with Rick is always a treasure.
