BTS’ upbeat pop hit, “Butter,” continues to maintain its hold at the top of Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart, now for 15 consecutive weeks. In February, the band broke the record previously held by SB19’s “Bazinga,” a few weeks before “Butter” hit the ten week mark. Tracked by Twitter, “Butter” has maintained a lead with four million mentions among fans.

The song has been a top performer since its release in May 2021, when it broke Spotify’s first day streaming record with 11 million streams globally. The official music video for “Butter” also marked the band’s biggest YouTube hit, setting an all-time record on the platform with 108.2 million views in 24 hours.

“If you hear the title ‘Butter,’ you know immediately that we tried to prepare a song that’s easy listening, instead of [something with] a really heavy or profound message,” BTS member Jimin told Variety upon the song’s release. “This is a little embarrassing, but it’s something smooth like butter, that really melts into and grabs hold of you. It’s a very cute song, sort of a confession.”

In February, BTS announced their four-night “BTS Permission To Dance On Stage” residency at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, taking place on April 8, 9, 15, and 16. Fans who are unable to attend will still have an opportunity to watch, as the final night will be livestreamed. Prior to announcing the performances in Sin City, BTS played several dates in Los Angeles, as well as in their hometown of Seoul, the latter of which marked the band’s first in-person concerts in South Korea since October of 2019.

In addition to its chart success, “Butter” is also nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 64th annual Grammy Awards, which take place this Sunday, April 3, at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The K-pop superstars are also set to perform during the ceremony, which airs live, beginning at 8:00 pm ET on CBS and Paramount+.
