The series features the singer-somngwriter covering songs suggested by fans while self-isolating in his London studio, due to the coronavirus outbreak. Bayley chose ‘Lean On Me’ following Withers’ death last week, 30 March, from heart complications, aged 81.

The Glass Animals frontman described Withers in the clip as “one of my favourite songwriters of all time,” as well as “a genius, and by all accounts one of the nicest people ever to have worked in music.”

Writing on Glass Animals’ Instagram page, where Bayley has been posting the videos, he added: “this is probably the most fun I had doing one of these so far. It’s a bit rough and ready, but that’s the idea. Gimme more requests in the comments and I’ll pick another for next wk. love, dave. x”

Last week (April 4) the multi-instrumentalist gave his take on ‘Young And Beautiful’, Lana Del Rey‘s 2013 single from The Great Gatsby soundtrack. The Glass Animals frontman also shared high praise for Del Rey, saying, “I think this is one of the best songwriters of our time. She’s incredible, one of my heroes. I think she’s a brilliant songwriter. Big respect.”

Prior to his version of ‘Young And Beautiful’, Bayley kicked off his ‘Quarantine Covers’ series last month, 21 March, when he performed a rendition of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ from the grunge legends’ 1993 album, In Utero.

In between Bayley’s first two ‘Quarantine Covers’, Glass Animals unveiled the video for latest single ‘Your Love (Déjà Vu)’ on March 26. Bayley described it as “a song about being addicted to chaos”. The song is from Glass Animals’ upcoming as-yet-untitled third studio album and it followed the November release of their comeback single ‘Tokyo Drifting’, featuring Denzel Curry.
