Lorde, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd To Perform For 2021 Global Citizen Live

A star-studded 24-hour event which will be broadcast around the world, Global Citizen Live will take place on September 25.

Lorde, Billie Eilish and The Weeknd are among the star-studded list of artists who are set to perform as part of Global Citizen Live in September.

The anti-poverty charity organization are planning their next live music event following on from May’s ‘Vax Live: The Concert To Reunite The World’, which featured performances from the likes of Foo Fighters, Jennifer Lopez and H.E.R.

Global Citizen have today confirmed details of their 24-hour global broadcast Global Citizen Live, which will take place on September 25 in a bid to “unite the world to defend the planet and defeat poverty”.

With performances and live events in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America, Global Citizen Live will take place on Saturday, Sept. 25, and will air on ABC, ABC News Live, BBC, FX, iHeartRadio, Hulu, YouTube, Twitter, and more.

The global broadcast will include simultaneous live music events featuring the world’s greatest artists, activists, and world leaders at iconic locations across the globe. Cities include Lagos, Rio de Janeiro, New York City, Paris, London, Seoul, Los Angeles, and Sydney. And even more locations, as well as location-specific details, are yet to be announced.  Visit the event’s official website for further information.

Global Citizen have also confirmed the full list of artists who will be taking part in Global Citizen Live. In addition to Lorde, Eilish and The Weeknd, the following acts will also be involved:

Adam Lambert, Alessia Cara, Andrea Bocelli, Angélique Kidjo, BTS, Burna Boy, Camila Cabello, Christine and the Queens, Coldplay, Davido, Demi Lovato, DJ Snake, Doja Cat, Duran Duran, Ed Sheeran, Femi Kuti, Green Day, H.E.R., Hugh Jackman & Deborra-lee Furness, Keith Urban, Lang Lang, Lizzo, Metallica, Rag’n’Bone Man, Ricky Martin, Shawn Mendes, The Lumineers, Tiwa Savage and Usher.

“It is very important to me to be a part of this historic event to spread awareness and encourage action toward helping the people of Ethiopia during this devastating humanitarian crisis they are faced with,” The Weeknd said in a statement.

“It’ll be an honor to perform and help bring support to these citizens who are suffering so severely.”

Lorde is reportedly set to make her live comeback this week with an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
