Ringo Starr Celebrates 85th Birthday
Join the iconic drummer’s annual observance of another year around the sun with a celebration of his favorite mantra: ‘wherever you are….just go ‘peace & love.’

July 7th is Ringo Starr’s 85th birthday, and as always, he’s dedicating another year around the sun to a celebration of peace and love. “Join me in sending a wave of peace and love around the world,” writes the iconic Beatle. “You can say it, you can post it, you can think it – at noon July the 7th wherever you are….just go ‘peace & love.’” Fans are invited to share their moments of celebration on social media with the hashtag #PeaceAndLove. Videos from events organized by Peace & Love Ambassadors all over the world will be featured on Ringo’s Facebook page.
The New York Times recently asked Starr about the origin of his mantra. He mentioned the 1960s and explained that “there was a peace and love movement in the beginning, and in my eyes and in my head, it stayed peace and love.”
Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band will be embarking on a fall tour of the US. Set to kick off on September 10th in Chicago, the run will close with a six-date residency at Las Vegas casino and music venue The Venetian. T. Both runs feature the same core lineup: Starr, Toto’s Steve Lukather and Warren Ham, Men At Work’s Colin Hay, Average White Band’s Hamish Stuart, Aerosmith’s Buck Johnson and Gregg Bissonette.
In January, Starr released a country album recorded in Nashville and produced and co-written by T-Bone Burnett. Look Up marks Starr’s first new LP since 2019, and his first country record in more than 50 years. The album features a host of country, bluegrass, and Americana talent including Alison Krauss, Billy Strings, Larkin Poe, Lucius, and Molly Tuttle. Starr played two sold-out shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, which were filmed for a CBS special titled “Ringo & Friends at the Ryman,” currently streaming on Paramount+.
