Electronic dance music supergroup Swedish House Mafia have shared their second comeback single following an eight year hiatus. After returning with the solo effort “It Gets Better” as a reintroduction to their creative reinvention, the trio has recruited Ty Dolla $ign and 070 Shake for “Lifetime,” a pulsing addition to the group’s forthcoming third studio album Paradise Again, slated for a late-2021 release. .

“Lifetime” arrives with an official music video directed by Alexander Wessely. The orange-hued visual centers Swedish House Mafia members Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso waking in a desert sandstorm. As the track plays, the trio preservers as they make their way through the windy terrain. At the end of the video, the group arrives at a woven compound of wires, reaching inside for the visual to conclude with the image of a single hand breaking through on the other side.

The same collection of wires from “Lifetime” were featured in the music video for “It Gets Better,” setting up a continuing narrative in the new world of Swedish House Mafia. It’s a fitting story to tell, mirroring that of the group itself. After announcing that they would be parting ways to pursue solo endeavours in 2012, Axwell, Angello and Ingrosso reconvened in the studio for the supergroup’s new era.

“You always want people to like your music, otherwise you wouldn’t play it to them,” Ingrosso told Billboard of the upcoming album Paradise Again in the group’s latest cover story interview. “But the vision of the album, for me, it’s not really important if it sells 400 million [copies] or 10.”

Angello added: “We’re together. We’re making music. We’re having fun. The only thing that matters is that we are going to look at each other in a couple of weeks’ time. We’re going to have a barbecue and laugh, and we’re going to say, ‘Look at this f–king album.’”
