After setbacks, amid COVID-19, The Killers have revealed a new street date of August 21 for their long-awaited, sixth studio album, Imploding The Mirage. Additionally, the band released a cinematic visual for their newest single, “My Own Soul’s Warning.”

“My Own Soul’s Warning” follows the band’s chart-topping single “Caution,” and the more recent “Fire In Bone.” The Killers also shared cover art for Imploding The Mirage on socials today, writing “COVID-19 monkey wrenched us. But we persevered. Folks, mark your calendars.”

Produced by The Killers, alongside Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Kacey Musgraves) and Jonathan Rado of Foxygen, the album was recorded in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Park City, UT. Imploding The Mirage also features a high-profile array of collaborators, including Lindsey Buckingham, kd lang, and Blake Mills, as well as Weyes Blood, Adam Granduciel (War On Drugs), and Lucius. This marks a turning point for the band, who, in the past, have typically kept guest spots to a minimum.

In addition to news surrounding their forthcoming album, The Killers also offered fans updates on their touring plans. Not surprisingly, amid the global pandemic, the band will be postponing their remaining 2020 tour dates for North America and Australia. As of now, their 2021 UK shows (listed below) are not affected.

In a statement today, the band said, “As so many of us have come to realize during the Covid-19 pandemic, the idea that we would be returning to ‘normal’ is farther along in the future than we initially thought. With that in mind, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our planned North American and Australian tour dates slated for the Fall. The safety of our fans and families is of the utmost importance to us always. We want nothing more to hit the road and play these songs for you and when the time is right, we will do just that! Be safe and be healthy. We appreciate you.”
