The live version (from “Steppenwolf Live”) of “From Here to There Eventually”. Goldy’s punchy keyboards and John’s unique voice make it a timeless classic imo. And the old Sparrows song “Twisted” should be there as well.

ANY MAGIC CARPET RIDE YOU’RE WILLING TO TAKE ME ON BABY.

From this list, “The Pusher”. Why was there nothing from “For Ladies Only”? Great album.

Hodge podge strained through a Leslie! There is no better, funky, gritty tune than that! I would rate this cut number 1 all the way through 11. Off of steppenwolf “the second”

Like many my list of Steppenwolf favorites would be much different than that of the author. It appears they went to you tube first just to “find what could be found” (“Berry Rides Again” – on my list) However, I think the author’s point is clear; there is so much more to Steppenwolf’s discography than only the 2 top hits FM is willing to play.

Move Over is as good as Rock Me! Unfortunately, it best demonstrates their biker-oriented, neo-fascist mentality or ideology.

“The Ostrich”, “Ball Crusher”, “It’s Never Too Late” and “Screaming Night Hog”. Favorite album: “Steppenwolf 7”. (STILL) Really like Larry Byrom’s contributions to it.

Many many people think Born To Be Wild is the greatest song in rock and roll history. I’m one of them. Also WTF is wrong with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Steppenwolf is not in the Hall?????

Why isn’t this band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

  22. Derek Murphy

Nighttime’s 4 You should have been on the list. The lyrics paint the most vivid word-pictures of any Steppenwolf song I’ve ever heard. And the “B-Side Medley” was a work of art.

  23. Oscar Lewis

Good list, but I’d have to add Renegade and Sparkle Eyes to the list…

In no order: original 2:55 Magic Carpet Ride single, Howling for My Baby, Desperation, Take What You Need, None of Your Doing, Rock Me, Jupiter Child, live From Here to There Eventually, Hey Lawdy Mama, For Ladies (album & original single), Jeraboah

    For Ladies Only

Straight Shootin’ Woman should be on this list. Also as Danno said above why aren’t they in the R&R Hall? If ever there was a band that should be in there it’s Steppenwolf.

Berry Rides Again is true homage to Chuck! A true CLASSIC!

  28. Roger Rill

“28” from the second album is a catchy rocker that I’d have included in the Top 10.

  29. Wilhelm Hagberg

I want to add ”Renegade”, ”Hippo Stomp”, ”Snowblind Friend” and ”For Ladies Only”.
