Kacey Musgraves’ new album Golden Hour, released by MCA Nashville/Decca, released to rave reviews on March 30, has debuted on today’s Official UK Album Chart at number 6, her highest ever UK album chart placing. 2015’s Pageant Material charted at number 11.

Her most intimate record to date, Musgraves co-wrote and co-produced Golden Hour with Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian and reveals: “I had a different mindset this time, which was feeling rather than thinking – leading heart first.”

Golden Hour has been picking up reams of positive press, with The Guardian giving the album a 5-star review and proclaiming: “Regardless of genre, you’ll be hard-pushed to find a better collection of pop songs this year.”

The prestigious Rolling Stone, meanwhile, also lavished praise on Golden Hour, saying: “For Musgraves, who established herself as a more acoustic-based, traditional-country force on 2013’s Grammy-winning Same Trailer Different Park, it’s a record that boldly goes where she hasn’t before. After two albums that leaned heavily on country sing-alongs with clever, often cute turns-of-phrase, the 29-year-old takes a more mature and sonically diverse approach on Golden Hour.”
