Siouxsie and the Banshees’ ‘All Souls’ Gets Limited Edition CD Release

Siouxsie and the Banshees are kicking off the fall season in their signature spooky way. The British rockers announced a limited CD version of All Souls, a compilation originally released in 2022. The new version also gets a fitting Halloween release date—it will be available on October 31.

The set, which was compiled by frontwoman Siouxsie Sioux, includes songs with themes of the supernatural, occult, and death, along with references to the Day of the Dead and Halloween to “celebrate the autumn equinox and its festivities.” The 10-track collection includes classics like “Spellbound” and “Halloween” from 1981’s Juju, 1981’s standalone single “Fireworks,” “Peek-A-Boo,” the 1988 track that became Siouxsie and the Banshees’ final UK Top 20 entry, and rare B-sides like “El Dia De Los Muertos” and “Supernatural Thing” (both found on 2004’s Downside Up four-disc box set). In 2022, “Spellbound” was featured in the end credits of the finale of the fourth season of Stranger Things.

The cover design of All Souls also holds special significance. Also orchestrated by Siouxsie, it showcases a marigold— a symbol of the Mexican Day of the Dead/All Souls Day festivities—emerging from a black background. All the tracks were remastered at London’s Abbey Road studios with Siouxsie overseeing the process and cut at half-speed by Miles Showell.

Siouxsie and the Banshees are revered as pioneers of the post-punk era, emerging onto the scene in 1978 with their debut album The Scream. Their musical run ended with their 11th and final album, 1995’s The Rapture. Their Once Upon A Time/The Singles – 1978 to 1981 retrospective was reissued on vinyl in December 2020.
