The country music husband and wife team of Vince Gill and Amy Grant have announced that they will resume their Christmas at the Ryman residency for the festive season of 2021.
The dates will run from December 13 to 22 and tickets go on sale tomorrow (27) at ryman.com. Four of the dates will feature matinee as well as evening performances, and opening artists will be announced at a later date.
“None of us could have ever predicted a year like this one and the holidays are going to look a lot different because of it,” says Grant. “While Vince and I are disappointed we can’t be with you all this year, we are thrilled to be able to return to Ryman Auditorium for the holidays in 2021. It is such a special time of year for us and our family, and these shows have become a holiday tradition for us!”
Channeling risk and beauty
In a recent interview with The Tennessean, Grant also said of the performing experience: “I’m telling you, virtual’s not the same thing. Playing live, you’re channeling risk and beauty, and it goes to an audience and comes back to you. That’s what’s transforming about it – it’s what’s happening in the room. Everyone’s elevated.”
Grant underwent open heart surgery in June to fix to fix a rare congenital condition called PAPVR. Her duet with Marc Martel, “The Christmas Waltz,” is currently on release, and she’s also the featured voice on hallowed veteran Dion’s new holiday track “Hello Christmas.” Gill, meanwhile, is one of the featured performers in the Willie Nelson American Outlaw concert, which will be released in 2CD and CD/DVD sets on December 11.
