The Who Help Stand Up To Cancer

Published on

The Who were among a stellar line-up performing on this year’s edition of the annual US network TV fundraising telecast, ‘Stand Up To Cancer,’ that aired on Friday night (September 5). The band’s performance at Porchester Hall in London three nights earlier was part of the one-hour special, introduced from Los Angeles by Dave Grohl.

The Who’s Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend founded Teen Cancer America in 2012, and Daltrey is a widely recognised and tireless patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK. Both charities focus on the special needs of teens and young adults fighting the disease. You can donate and get involved here.

Stand Up To Cancer was founded in 2008, and has raised hundreds of millions of dollars via its annual telecasts, broadcast on all four major US networks as well as dozens of cable outlets. Performing in Los Angeles on Friday were the Dave Matthews Band, Ariana Grande and Lupe Fiasco with Common and Jennifer Hudson.

SU2C scientists have launched more than 140 clinical trials, and 100% of donations received from the public support their collaborative cancer research programmes. For more information, and to donate, click here.
