Florence + The Machine Announces ‘Everybody Scream,’ Shares Title Track
The title track is available to stream now.

The sixth album from Florence + The Machine has been announced. Everybody Scream is set to be released on October 31.
The album’s title track is out now with an accompanying video directed by Autumn de Wilde.
The album will be released in a variety of formats, including a “Chamber” vinyl edition which includes four chamber versions exclusive to the release. The “Chamber” edition also comes with unique cover art, a 24”x36” poster, and a 16-page booklet. The 2LP is housed in a triple gatefold. The “Chamber” edition also arrives in CD format. Other offerings include a traditional 2LP release, a CD release, two different cassette offerings — including a “Bloodwood Edition” — and digital download.
The title track begins with twinkling synthesizer notes and layers of vocals from Welch. The song kicks into high gear with a galloping drum groove, shrieks and screams from a collection of vocals, and a powerful performance from Welch. On the song, she sings: “Here I don’t have to quiet/ Here I don’t have to be kind/ Extraordinary and normal all at the same time/ But look at me run myself ragged/ Blood on the stage/ But how can I leave you when you’re screaming my name?/ Screaming my name.”
Florence Welch wrote and produced the album over the past two years with a close-knit circle of collaborators including Mark Bowen of IDLES—who appears in the video for “Everybody Scream” alongside Aaron Dessner and Mitski. The song was co-written by Welch, Mitski, and Bowen.
After needing lifesaving surgery on the Dance Fever Tour, Florence’s recovery took her down the path of spiritual mysticism, witchcraft and folk horror as she felt the limits of her body and explored what it means to be “healed.” The album treads through womanhood, partnership, aging, and dying; exposing the murky in the mundane. Everybody Scream follows Florence + The Machine’s celebrated chart-topping 2022 effort, Dance Fever.
