By 1985, KISS had stopped wearing their traditional makeup and costumes. In September of that year, they released their 13th album, Asylum. It was the first album to feature lead guitarist Bruce Kulick as an official member. This lineup of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Carr, and Kulick would last until Carr’s death in 1991. At the San Antonio gig, they performed Asylum cuts like “Uh! All Night” and the hit single “Tears Are Falling.” KISS also performed beloved songs like “Rock and Roll All Nite,” “Detroit Rock City,” and “Love Gun.” The gig also features solos from all four members.

The previous installment of Off the Soundboard was released in 2023 and captured a performance at Poughkeepsie, New York’s Mid-Hudson Arena on November 28, 1984, during the Animalize World Tour. It features the only known soundboard recording with guitarist Mark St. John.

Earlier this year, KISS announced that “Strutter,” a highlight off the band’s self-titled debut album, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a pressing of limited edition playable gold records. The pure gold version is 5-inch solid gold record made of 8 ounces of .999 (24-karat) pure gold while the gold-plated version is pressed on 5-inch Gold-plated copper-core records with .999 pure gold.

Last year, KISS announced a limited reissue of their sophomore album, Hotter Than Hell, for its 50th anniversary. Released just months after their debut, the album features the single “Let Me Go, Rock ‘n’ Roll” and fan favorites such as “Hotter Than Hell” and “Got To Choose.”
